Sotoca from Lens, who scored twice against Lorient, is the player of the day. The Parisians Messi and Verratti, the Marseilles’ Mbemba and Nuno Tavares, the Lyon’s Toko Ekambi in particular, also distinguished themselves on Wednesday and are included in the 5th edition of Maxifoot’s typical team.
12. Kasper Schmeichel (Nice)
13th Papa Ndiaga Yade (Troyes)
14th Florian Tardieu (Troyes)
15th Folarin Balogun (Reims)
16th Sofiane Boufal (Angers)
17. Terem Moffi (Lorient)
18th Wilson Odobert (Troyes)
In details :
Player of the day: Florian Sotoca (Lens)
In great form at the beginning of the season, just like his team, the Lens striker scored twice against Lorient. He could have been the decisive passer if Poreba had not wasted his offer. He set an example for his teammate a few minutes later by scoring on a cross at the back post, and then he scored twice by superbly taking a cross from Machado with the outside of his right foot.
Maxime Dupé (Toulouse)
Despite the three goals conceded against PSG, we can only applaud the performance of the Toulouse keeper! Heroic, he won many duels against the Parisians who would have realized an offensive festival without his saves (9). No other goalkeeper has shone more than him during this day of Ligue 1.
Jonathan Clauss (Marseille)
Excellent against Nice (3-0) last weekend, the right piston of OM was once again very good at the Velodrome against Clermont. Always available and generous on his side, he could have been credited with an assist if Sanchez had been more successful in the first half.
Chancel Mbemba (Marseille)
Already the boss of the defense of OM, the rock of Marseille has again made his game against Clermont. Defensively, he left no chance to the Clermont attackers. And offensively, he got into his stride with a first volley not on target before getting a penalty at the end of the game, finally missed by Sanchez.
Mamadou Sakho (Montpellier)
The central defender came into the game in the 8th minute following the injury to Sainte-Luce, and reminded us of his importance in this Montpellier team. First by blocking Bayala’s close-range shot two minutes later, then by delivering a long ball that led to the opening goal. It is also him who provokes the expulsion of Hamouma by courageously putting his head in opposition on an attempt of return of the Ajaccio striker.
Nuno Tavares (Marseille)
Author of three goals in his first four L1 games, the Portuguese didn’t score against Clermont, but he was once again very active on the left side. And from the first to the last minute! He could have opened the score in the first half, but his beautiful rebound hit the bar… then the post! The player on loan from Arsenal still managed to be decisive by getting the winning corner thanks to a new shot with his right foot.
Salis Abdul Samed (Lens)
Arrived this summer from Clermont, the midfielder has quickly integrated into the Lens team. He is already one of the key players, as he proved again against Lorient with a great defensive activity and very accurate transmissions. He was rewarded by scoring his first goal for RCL.
Kylian Mbappé (Paris SG)
The Parisian striker made the nets tremble again against Toulouse. He combined perfectly with the other two strikers throughout the game, hence the many situations in which he was at the origin or the conclusion. The problem, and not the least for him, is that Dupé neutralized most of his chances. Not to mention the post he hit before Bernat’s goal.
Lionel Messi (Paris SG)
Able to find Neymar and Mbappé in very small spaces, the PSG playmaker was involved in all the good moves against Toulouse! Double decisive pass for his two teammates, he was a permanent danger with his placement between the lines, his accelerations and his relevant choices in the last meters. The only thing he missed was the goals, because of an incredible Dupé. The Stadium gave him a standing ovation at his exit.
Karl Toko Ekambi (Lyon)
Strongly criticized on social networks after his ghostly game in Reims, the Lyon winger ended his game against Auxerre with a standing ovation from the Groupama Stadium! A well-deserved honor for the Cameroonian, who made big differences against Pereira during the whole game. Rewarded by a goal and an assist.
